"The ultimate goal of my life and art is peace. I have passed the struggling periods of life and art, and the study of Buddhism and philosophy have been a great help to my life and art, bringing peace to both. Peace is an abstraction that can be found in both reality and the abstract. Art is not imitation but imagination. All of my creative works of art are from my imagination and from meditation that leads to peace for humanity."

Her Majesty the Queen

The Queens Gallery was established in response to the gracious wish of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit to provide a permanent home for the exhibition of a wide range of Thai visual arts, especially paintings and sculpture. A public gallery is deemed an important means for the promotion of Thai culture, established Thai artists, as well as the younger generation with its exceptional talent and obvious potential.

Her Majesty the Queen, a staunch Patroness of numerous foundations for Thai culture and arts, has been instrumental in bringing numerous ethnic Thais, irrespective of their basic education, from villages all over the country to a series of intensive training courses and turning them into professional artists in various and diversified disciplines. These courses along with the other projects under Her Majestys Patronage, which have all been highly successful, reflect Her well known kindness and concern that she has always had for Her less privileged people.

In this manner, Her Majesty the Queen designated all 7 million baht donated by the Chairman of the Bank, Mr. Chatri Sophonpanich, and six other generous individuals, for use in Her on-going art promotion activities, stating briefly, This is the seed money for the building of a Thai arts exhibition center.

To the delight of all concerned, Her Majesty the Queen graciously named the exhibition center, The Queen Sirikit Arts Exhibition Center in the Thai language, and The Queens Gallery in English. Subsequently, the Queens Gallery Foundation was established on May 6th, 2003.
